Trump’s Secretary of Defence won’t rush to ban gays and lesbians from the military

General James Mattis, the Trump Regime’s nominee for US Defence Secretary, was pushed hard on his views on women fighting on the front line and and allowing openly gay men and lesbians to serve in the military at his Senate confirmation hearing. Despite expressing his concerns about both in the past, he seemed broadly happy with the status quo and was pretty clear that he doesn’t really care who consenting adults “go to bed with”.

But let’s not all wave flags and cheer yet, because although he said he has no intention of changing current policies, he would review them if a service chief came to him with a “proven” problem. So the invitation is out there…
