Yeah, right. If you’re the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, that is. They’ve issued an open letter which expresses particular concern about trans kids. It’s a rather confused document, which denies the experience of thousands of people who have successfully transitioned.
Children especially are harmed when they are told that they can “change” their sex or, further, given hormones that will affect their development and possibly render them infertile as adults.
This picks up a topic increasingly used by those who oppose trans rights to whip up indignation among those unaffected by such issues, and which somehow makes it looks as though this is a casual procedure, taken lightly . They go on to argue that “gender ideology harms individuals and societies by sowing confusion and self-doubt”.
Studies show, however, that parents’ rejection of their trans children can lead to increased stress, depression, and suicidal thoughts, and that trans children thrive when parents accept their identities.
But what do you expect? They also, btw, take a side-swipe at same-sex marriage without directly naming it, saying they reiterate “natural marriage continues to be invaluable to American society”, whatever that bullshit means. Same old hymn-sheet.
